Are we sitting too much? Does exercise cancel that out?

Americans continue to spend more and more time sitting down each day. A study from the Journal JAMA found that Americans now sit an hour more each day bringing their total time spent sitting to 6.5 hours.

Of course, the main reason for this is screen time. 65% of adults, 59% of adolescents and 62% of kids spend at least two hours a day sitting in front of the TV or some type of device.

Research has shown that the more hours you sit each day they higher your risk of dying early. But a newly published study showed that consistent exercise can counteract the ill effects of lots of forced chair time.

The British Journal of Sports Medicine recommends that people with sedentary jobs aim to accumulate at least two hours a day stand and strolling during working hours. If your job requires you to be chair bound for the majority of the day try to move every 30 minutes.
